About me

About the Artist

My name is Oral Laurie, and I come from the Bundjalung/Yaegl people. The land I walk, the stories I carry, and the hands I create with are all shaped by those who came before me.

I was taught that art is not just something we make — it is something we remember. As a child, I would sit beside my father, watching as they worked with [materials/traditional art], their stories woven into every motion.

My art is rooted in these teachings. Each piece I create is a thread in a larger tapestry of ancestral knowledge — a way to pass on the old stories while living new ones. I work with Acrylic and Canvas to explore the spaces between tradition and transformation, between the sacred and the everyday.

This website is a place where those stories can travel further. Here, I share my artwork not just to sell, but to connect — with those who understand, those who are learning, and those who simply feel something in the shapes, colors, and textures.

Thank you for visiting, for witnessing, and for supporting the continuation of stories that have always been alive — now finding new form through my hands.
